A weekend in Glasgow
So this weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to Glasgow to stay as a guest of the Crowne Plaza - and what a fantastic weekend we had.
I took the biggest critic of all with me (my Mother) and we struggled to find anything wrong with the place at all.
Every single member of staff was happy, friendly and just plain charming - from the management to the chambermaids - and all went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after - from complimentary Irn Bru and a welcome pack in the room to the quaintest little gift shop stocked with goodies.
On Saturday we were treated to a trip to the oldest licensed pub in Scotland called the Clachon Inn for lunch (I can highly recommend the steak pie) before a tour and whisky tasting at the Glengoyne Distillery including a scrummy 21 year old single malt and a 35 year old single malt priced at £2850!!
The day was rounded off with cocktails and canapes before a stunning 3 course dinner in the newly refurbished Mariner's Restaurant - on a side note the food could not be faulted, an excellent selection whether ordering from the menu or off the hot tables.
The hotel is ideally situated next to the Hydro and SECC with direct access though the venue and has great views along the River Clyde and has ample parking and access for everyone.
The only down side is that we had to leave - but I'm already planning my next trip back!
All in all, if you're looking for some top class accommodation or a venue for your wedding or corporate event in Scotland, you can't go wrong with the Crowne Plaza.
